Robins Trust Update on the Eve of the 2024/25 Season

— 3 minute read

Happy New Season everyone,

Tomorrow sees the club we love play for the first time in the 2024/25 season, it will be great to be back at Whaddon Road, among old friends cheering on our team.

Ahead of the season opener, we wanted to update our members on a number of initiatives and projects that the Trust have been working on across the summer.

Building for the Future

Our plan for the future was released in the immediate aftermath of the 2023/4 season. It created an incredible amount of interest from within the CTFC fanbase, but it's gone a bit quiet, hasn't it?!

A group from the Trust board met with the club on June 14 to discuss this plan and other issues and a further catch-up with club chairman David Bloxham is being scheduled for the coming weeks to create some momentum.

Perhaps the main recommendation of the document was to facilitate a strategic review of the club so the successes of the past can be built upon. This was discussed at the meeting on June 14 and the Trust was asked to submit a proposal to the Club.

Last week, the Trust Chair met with an individual recommended to us, who has vast experience both in business and football. The meeting was incredibly positive and a proposal for a review is currently being worked on and is close to being finalised.

Fan Engagement Plan

Another commitment of Building for the Future was to improve communication across the Club. Again, extensive amounts of work have been undertaken on the Trust's side to make this a reality.

We are excited to announce that a new Fan Engagement Plan has been agreed between the Trust and Club.

It is a plan that goes beyond the EFL agreed frameworks and is more in-line with the expected structures set to be introduced in the new Football Governance Bill by the new Labour government.

It is a radical departure and improvement from the previous engagement structures. We wanted to announce this prior to the season starting, but good things come to those who wait - so we will be announcing this, together, on Monday.

Cycle Shelter

Anyone who has been to Whaddon Road for the pre-season friendly matches will have noticed our brand new sparkling cycle shelter close to the car park entrance.

This was paid for by the members of the Robins Trust after being a clear recommendation of a fan's survey held in 2023.

It was really pleasing to see it being used for the friendlies. What better example is there of the Trust representing the fans - The supporters asked for it and we delivered.

And with that, it's almost time to get the shirt on and head to the ground to roar on the team.

Good luck to Michael Flynn, Aaron Downes and the whole team ahead of the season. We'll be right behind you.

See you on Saturday.
