Open Day 2017: Meet the players, see the new kit… And bring your boots!

The Robins Trust will be opening the doors of Cheltenham Town’s Seasons Training Ground for an interactive open day on Sunday, July 16.

As in years gone by, the Open Day will see the launch of a new kit – with the new change colours on view for the first time.

Gary Johnson and his staff will also conduct an open training session with the first team players.

This year, for the first time Graham Fletcher and the Cup-winning Cheltenham Town Ladies team will be training at the same time as their male contemporaries. And the football action doesn’t stop there.

As part of the outstanding Crowdfunder campaign to install the new Whaddon Road scoreboard, fans paid for the chance to play against Robins legends.

The Trust are delighted to confirm that the Legends match (or matches as the demand for a slice of the action meant nearly 40 fans signing up) will take place at the Open Day.

John Finnigan, Jerry Gill, Shane Duff, Richard Walker and Tony Naylor are all already confirmed as taking part, with many more Robins greats expected to join the throng.

The Open Day will kick-off at midday when the first team get to work for their daily training session before attention turns to the Ladies for a training session of their own at 12.30pm.

Having been put through their paces by Gary Johnson, the Robins will then take on… the Robins with the squad going head to head in 7v7 matches.

The new change kit will be launched at 1.30pm, after which you will have the chance to get your ‘Chelfies’ with the squad, pick up those autographs and join Harry Pell on the bouncy castle.

As well as having the first chance to buy new kit, supporters will be able to collect their season tickets ahead of the big League Two kick-off on August 5.

And the day will conclude with the long-awaited fans v legends matches at 2.30pm.

Trust acting chairman Tarran Wilson said: “The Robins Trust takes great pride in organising and arranging the Open Day each year.

“As well as all the entertainment on offer, it’s a great chance for all Robins fans to mingle, chat to the players and staff.

“With the title-winning Ladies team and a host of Robins legends getting involved this year, it will hopefully be the best one yet.”

To help with the entertainment on the day, the Trust would like to hear from any businesses in the area who would like to help run this outstanding community event.

If you have an ice cream van, run a face painting business or hire bouncy castles we want to hear from you.

Robins Trust head the queue to support Colin Farmer Stand sponsorship competition

‘We are the ones sitting in it, so why don’t we try and sponsor it?’

The Robins Trust have jumped to the head of the queue in support of Cheltenham Town’s latest sponsorship scheme.

On Monday, club commercial manager John Finnigan released details of a £100 per ticket raffle for the right to sponsor the Colin Farmer Stand.

And within minutes, the new-look Robins Trust board swung into action.

They agreed to buy one of the golden tickets and the Trust’s Fan Elected Director Murry Toms immediately got in touch with Finnigan.

The result was that the Trust became the proud owners of ticket number one for the draw that will take place at the Bristol City friendly match on July 25.

Trust FED Murry Toms said: “We were at a Trust meeting on Monday night when Finners released details of the raffle on Twitter.

“Almost immediately, we agreed as a Trust board that we would show our support by buying a ticket.

“We got in touch with Finners and were the first people to sign up for the raffle. Hopefully, lots of others will join us.

“Each and every week it’s us the supporters who are the ones sitting in that stand, so why don’t we try and be the sponsors?”

The networking evening will also provide a chance for the members of a new-look Trust board to meet and speak with individuals and businesses who support the club.

Long-serving Trust board member Leo Hoenig added: “We all agreed that this would be a perfect way for the Trust to show its continued support to the club.

“Since Murry was elected as FED, the Trust has welcomed a number of new members to our board and many of these new members will attend the networking event.

“I’ve been a Trust board member since we started out more than a decade ago and we have achieved a lot of good things in that time.

“But never before have we had as many new and fresh faces, with new and fresh ideas on board. These are exciting times for the Trust.”

Robins commercial manager John Finnigan said: “This is a great way to support the club and have the opportunity to mix with many of our sponsors and supporters.

“I would like to thank The Robins Trust for supporting us, yet again. This was a very successful event last season and we are hoping to emulate that this year.”

Open day: planning meeting Tuesday 30 May

Preparations are already underway ahead of this year’s open day.

The popular event is open for all supporters to meet the management, players and staff in July ahead of the new season.

A number of new ideas were suggested at the recent open board meeting and we will be hosting a planning meeting on Tuesday 30 May (7.30pm) in the main bar at the LCI Rail Stadium.

Everyone is welcome to join us and play a part in putting it on.

Robins Trust Fan Elected Director Position – Message From Clive Gowing

It has been a pleasure to represent the Robins Trust supporters on the CTFC board for the last two years and for myself to be the first fan elected director at Cheltenham Town FC was a fantastic achievement after 10 years of hard work.

During the last year I have been completing two roles on the CTFC board as fan elected director and also Finance Director. Much debate has occurred regarding these roles and I have always felt I was best placed to complete both roles to the best of my ability.  Continue reading Robins Trust Fan Elected Director Position – Message From Clive Gowing

Robins Trust SGM and Fan Elected Director Election

Robins Trust SGM

Although it may not seem it but it is almost two years since the Robins Trust members voted to invest £200,000 into Cheltenham Town FC securing the first fan elected director at Cheltenham Town FC.

As per the trust rules the fan elected director position was for an initial two years with annual re-elections thereafter. The Robins Trust are therefore announcing the arrangements for their SGM to be held in April. Current Fan Elected Director Clive Gowing can stand for re-election and has signaled his intention to do so but there is still the opportunity for other Robins Trust members to also run for election.
